Like physical model making and digital modelling, rule based parametric modeling is also a great tool for visualizing iterations in shorter times. After doing the site study of Homewood Neighborhood and realizing potential adjacencies and connections across the site, this script was developed to to visualize pyramidal massing options around open spaces for market rate housing on site area of 7.5 acres. For large scale projects, excel sheets often give a fair idea of maximum possible units. This script takes it forward by adding rules of form. While you may argue the relevance of this, this is a great way of iterating and post rationalizing in search for newer ways of designing housing. An iteration need not be taken as is, but observations could be made and parts could be chosen.

Quick Iterations for post rationalizing

Rule based systems create quick iterations which might be difficult to imagine using the rational or creative mind due to limitation of time especially in professional settings.

No problem is big or complex enough, if you break it down into smaller parts smartly.
